dA logo additive by kyle-culver dA logo additive by kyle-culver
Holy crap. I got a DD!!!??? I've been without internet for a little bit as I move into my new place, and this happens!!?? lol.
I must admit, I did dream of a day like this n_n but never did I think it would be on one of my spray painted items. hah.

Coming up on my 6th dA birthday I feel even more of a deviant! Thank you!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------
I did something like this in the past with one of my other sweatshirts and I thought I'd give it a go again.

I took my dA hoodie and added a huge logo to the back of it. That's right. Spray paint. hah. I drew out and cut a stencil and then touched up the outline with a sharpie

I like the logos on the arm :)

The DA logo always looked like a protractor to me.

Haha! Yeah, I can see that. I wish I was responsible for the logos on the sleeve. The sweatshirt itself was cool enough. I really didn't need to do anything to it. :)

no that's cool. i like hearing everybody's opinions! that's one reason why this site is here. And it helps me, one way or another. thanks for sharing and not going all over-the-top rude and smart-ass about it. in the end, it's not my fault I got the DD n_n

I know. I just feel that it's unfair to people who are aspiring to complete an artistic work. Something that took time, a lot of forethought and effort to complete. Not saying it isn't clever to add another logo, or that the placement is bad or anything like that. It just seems unfair that this would get a DD when things that are (at least as I consider) better are continuously and repeatedly passed by. I am glad you have a rational acceptance of my comment.

Wow, that looks great!
Does spraypaint on sweatshirts really work? I would think it'd show wear and tear fast....
And yet, this looks good. Might have to give it a go sometime.

It surprised me too when I first tried it on my other hoodie first years ago. It depends on the kind of paint you use. Spray paint at a distance worked because it didn't create a solid flat layer over the sweatshirt for it to crack and wear off. I even put it through the wash a few times and it still looks just as white. I wear it pretty much every day!
The sharpie did help too. it made the lines more defined which makes it over all look great!

Lemme know when you try it out! I'd love to see what you make! :)

Actually, no. I was surprised too when I first tried spray painting my other hoodie. I thought for sure it would crack or something. The only thing that happened was that it faded, but only by a tad. After every other wash it stayed that way. So far, it's been the same for this one.
But it's gotta be spray paint and not liquid paint where you brush it on like a canvas. I'm certain it would create a flat layer that would crack and wear off then.
And in layers. I think because of the paint I was using I had to do like 4 layers of spray paint to make it as white as it is now. but still, no wearing or tearing yet :)

lol! deviants who don't reply to these kind of comments aren't making dA what it should be: a community of artists! :) I love sharing techniques and connecting with other artists! because, well... I love art! :D
The biggest problem is placing the cardboard flat enough on the sweatshirt so that no paint is caught under it. That's why I had to use a permanent marker (aka sharpie here) and get rid of the overflow of paint that wasn't caught by the cardboard. I haven't tried using tape because it's not easy to form objects with and you can only apply it once. However, there is paper out there (that I still would like to try) that is like one big sticker. You cut out your trace and then peel off the adhesive from the back and place it on the clothe and paint over that. It's sticky enough to stay on there while painting, but not too sticky to leave residue after. But then again, it will have to be a simple design, unless you're willing to cut out details and all. :P
Nope! Hasn't worn off yet, and I don't it will any time soon :)

Yeah, I thought of that paper when I first thought of how to make it :D
thought it was expensive though :D
The thing I was thinking about, can I "gradient" the spray !!
gonna take some trial and error though !! :D

i thought of that question too! it all depends on how you spray it i suppose. gotta have some spray paintin' skillz... trial and error f'sure! good luck!

very nice! I just glanced at your TK 1115 gallery. haha! you found one of the R2-D2 mailboxes! I read about those a while back! I have a clone trooper helmet but not uniform... how much did the whole suit cost for ya?

The suit I wear these days ran about $850. Bulkie ones like my old suit average about $650. That is for the armor parts of course, you have to worry about bout boots and soft bits.

I found another of the R2 mailboxes over here in Africa. I don't have my suit with me, but I still got a photo with it. I need to post on here sometime.
